Community Involvement: Habitat for Humanity

Henry Poor Community Involvement
Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette has been making a difference in people’s lives in our community for over 25 years. With the help of thousands of volunteers, Habitat has built 189 homes. Along with the many hours contributed by volunteers, Habitat has benefitted from the generosity of our local habitat_logobusinesses through donations of materials and monetary support. Habitat Executive Director Doug Taylor commented, “We have been blessed with the tremendous generosity of many, many people in the Lafayette community like Henry Poor. As a result we have positively impacted the lives of many families”.

Henry Poor and HOME WORKS Enjoy Involvement
Henry Poor and HOME WORKS have been actively involved with the Lafayette chapter of Habitat for Humanity through its contributions of their associates’ time, donations, and providing building materials. Jim Andrew, who worked on the first home Henry Poor helped build, stated, “Taking part in and watching an organization like Habitat make such a positive impact in our community is wonderful. I know everyone at Henry Poor and HOME WORKS who has participated has enjoyed their involvement.” Last year Henry Poor took part through BAGL in the Home Builders Blitz 2008, and is currently in the planning stage of its next Habitat project.

You can call the ReStore if you need items to be picked up. All operating profits from Habitat ReStore sales go into Habitat’s building program, helping provide adequate housing for Lafayette families.

The ReStore needs your donations of any building or remodeling material that is in good shape. Especially needed are:
