BAGL LEGO Home Building Challenge

CALLING ALL LEGO BUILDERS!

Looking for something fun to do? Want to add a little “tech ed” to your school day?

The Builder Association of Greater Lafayette (BAGL) is hosting a LEGO HOME BUILDING CONTEST!

The contest is open to kids ages 6-18 in the BAGL territories: Tippecanoe, Benton, Clinton, Fountian, Montgomery, Warren and White Counties. Show off your Lego skills for a chance to receive a $25 gift card from one of our local restaurants! (Support Local!) Entries are due by 5 pm on May 1st.

How does this work?

1. Age brackets: 6-7 8-9 10-11 12-13 14-15 16-18

2. Pull out your tub of Legos
Please honor the stay-at-home order and use what you have.

3. Build the best house/school/fire station/city scape that you can, get creative!
Construction design is about creativity! Using your own design will add to your score.

4. Snap a photo of your Lego build
Please do NOT include a picture of your child in the photo.

5. Send the photo of your Lego build to us: Direct message on Facebook or email to [email protected].

6. Include 1st name and age of child who built the set and which county they live in.

7. All submissions must be received no later than 5pm on May 1, 2020.

8. Entries will be judged by three BAGL members w/o a relative in the event.

9. Pictures of the winning Lego builds will be announced on Facebook May 8, 2020.

10. $25 gift card to a local restaurant will be awarded to each winning Lego Build per age bracket.

The Signs Your Roof Needs Replacing

Roofs, like anything else associated with your home, do not last forever. Depending on the type of weather your roof has been exposed to over the years, a roof may last 15 – 20 years.

It’s a good idea to inspect your roof in the early Fall, particularly if you live in areas of the country that experience extreme weather … like Indiana.

Signs Your Roof Needs Replacing

A leak in the attic.
After a strong storm or wind-driven rain, take a look in the attic for signs of leaking. It could indicate damaged shingles, inadequate underlayment or deteriorated flashing.
Blistering or peeling interior or exterior paint.
Moisture trapped in the house due to poor ventilation can cause exterior paint to peel and blister.
Stains on interior ceilings and walls – mold or mildew growth.
Stains, or worse, mold can be caused by leaks from outside the house or moisture trapped inside.
Exterior decay in sheathing and/or siding.
Excess moisture can also contribute to decay.
Missing, cracked, or curled shingles.
Dry, cracked, or easily broken shingles have reached the end of their useful life, and it’s time to invest in a new roof.
Dark, “dirty-looking” areas on your roof.
Vegetation, fungus, mold, or algae growth can cause dark stains on your shingles. That doesn’t necessarily mean you need a new roof, but if you do choose to replace your shingles look for ones that offer stain protection.
Excessive energy costs.
Inadequate ventilation can possibly drive up your household cooling costs by trapping hot air in the attic. Attic moisture can also drip into your insulation, reducing its effectiveness.
