Henry Poor Community Involvement
Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette has been making a difference in people’s lives in our community for over 25 years. With the help of thousands of volunteers, Habitat has built 189 homes. Along with the many hours contributed by volunteers, Habitat has benefitted from the generosity of our local habitat_logobusinesses through donations of materials and monetary support. Habitat Executive Director Doug Taylor commented, “We have been blessed with the tremendous generosity of many, many people in the Lafayette community like Henry Poor. As a result we have positively impacted the lives of many families”.

Henry Poor and HOME WORKS Enjoy Involvement
Henry Poor and HOME WORKS have been actively involved with the Lafayette chapter of Habitat for Humanity through its contributions of their associates’ time, donations, and providing building materials. I know everyone at Henry Poor and HOME WORKS who has participated has enjoyed their involvement.” Last year Henry Poor took part through BAGL in the Home Builders Blitz 2008, and is currently in the planning stage of its next Habitat project.

Home Works Idea Center

Home Works Idea Center offers innovative concepts that provide local builders and contractors with products and solutions that will enhance the value of the homes they build and the services they provide.   Finding better ways to install tile showers and heating a home are just two of the many ideas that Home Works and Henry Poor can suggest.

HOME WORKS IDEA #1
Schluter Shower System … speeds installation, durable, maintenance free
The Schluter integrated shower system for tiled showers creates a bonded watertight assembly that eliminates the risk of leakage due to vapor and water penetration, is maintenance free, and significantly reduces total installation time.

By utilizing the Schluter-Kerdi prefabricated tray and curb, floor drain components, waterproofing strip and membrane, and pre-formed corners, your installation will be beautiful, durable and maintenance free.  For more on the Schluter Shower System go to www.schluter.com.

HOME WORKS IDEA #2
ThermoNet Underfloor Heating … cost effective, easy to install, lifetime warranty
Thermo Net underfloor radiant heating systems bring soothing comfort and warmth to any room in a home…. kitchen, baths, laundry rooms, living and dining rooms, dens, and hallways.

Radiant underfloor heatmats are cost effective and can serve as a primary or secondary means of heating a room.  This product is suitable for all subfloors and works with most floor finishes, including ceramic, stone, vinyl, wood, and carpet.  It is simple and quick to install, is maintenance free, and has a lifetime warranty.  For more on ThermoNet Underfloor Heating contact us at Home Works.

Season’s Greetings from Henry Poor & Home Works

Each year during the Holiday Season we take some time and reflect on the past twelve months and remember those who have played an important part in our lives. For those of us who depend on residential and commercial construction for our livelihoods, it has been a challenging year. Through this time, it is important to know that you have friends and family around you. At Henry Poor Lumber and Home Works we are blessed to be surrounded by customers and friends like you. We would also like to extend our thoughts and prayers to those serving our country and who may be far from home at this time of year.

We recognize that there are many families who are struggling during this economic slowdown. With the local factory lay-offs and business job losses, Henry Poor Lumber and Home Works, have supported the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and many community and church organizations this year. It is our small way of giving back to our community. We would encourage our customers, friends, and vendors to continue giving to local charitable causes and helping those who need some extra assistance at this time.

With 2009 on the horizon, we look with anticipation of a gradual economic up turn. During the coming year, we will all be challenged to find new and better ways to serve our customers. Our goal is to continue to be a leader in promoting “green technologies and products”. This will lead to greater energy conservation and cost savings for our customers. We will also strive to provide higher levels of customer service that will help lower the overall costs of doing business with Henry Poor Lumber and Home Works. We welcome your ideas and suggestions on how we can better serve you.

We look forward to working with each of you in the coming year and all of us at HENRY POOR LUMBER and HOME WORKS would like to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and prosperous 2009.

Thank you!
